Shaving Tips for Women
If you like a smooth and fuzz-free body, then you have to remove all unwanted hair from your body. Shaving is the easiest, fastest, and most affordable of all hair-removal techniques. However, you must take care not to get nicks and cuts. Here are eight smooth shaving tips for you to go about this task frequently and smoothly.
Prepare your skin
- Whichever part of the body you are planning to shave, prepare it first.
- You can use a loofah or a body scrub to remove dead skin and all traces of soap, oil, or lotion from this skin.
Wet the area
- Do not ever use a razor on dry skin anywhere on your body. That is a classic recipe for getting cuts and the crudest way of removing hair.
- Always wet the area you plan to work on with some warm water to open up pores; this will make shaving easier.
- Then apply a shaving cream or hair conditioner to lather up before you pick up the razor and swipe away all the unwanted hair.
- Do not use soap for this because it will make your skin feel dry and flaky after you finish shaving.
Choose your razor
- Your choice of the razor makes a huge difference to how your skin feels, both during the process and after shaving.
- Women’s razors, designed specially to work on the contours of your body, are safer and convenient.
- The grip, the width of the shaver’s head, the number of blades used, and the moisturizing strips attached to it, all are ideally designed to work well on you.
Stretch the skin
- It makes sense to stretch out your skin wherever you are shaving and use the razor in one clean swipe.
- This will ensure a smooth shave and remove all hair without leaving ugly patches.
- When you work on your underarms or knees, make sure your skin is taut to prevent ingrown hair and razor cuts.
Use short strokes
- Always use short strokes to remove hair with a razor.
- This will make the process slightly longer but safer.
The direction of hair growth
- When you shave your hands or legs, working against the direction of hair growth is ideal. This way, you can remove all the hair effectively.
- But when you work on your underarms or bikini line, swipe first in the opposite direction of hair growth, then follow the reverse direction. This will ensure smoother results.
Keep your razor clean
- After every use, clean your razor well to remove all hair and dirt stuck in-between the blades.
- Wash it well with soap and water, and air dry it.
- Keep the blades covered when not in use.
- This way, it will be clean and ready for your next use.
- Dispose razors after every 3 or 4 uses and pick a new one.
Moisturize
- After shaving, make sure you rinse and wash the area you have worked on with cold water. This will help seal up pores.
- Then pat dry gently with a soft towel and apply any natural oil like almond or coconut, aloe vera gel, or a creamy moisturizer to keep your skin smooth.
